Configuration can also be started by checking the check box upon completing the Installation of Microsoft SharePoint Standalone Server 2010
That's not the recommended practice. There are some installation packages that we need to install before the configuration to avoid the configuration errors.
1. Configure IIS
2. Install prerequisites
In case when one of more from the above patches failed to install, Run windows installer repair batch file.
2. Install prerequisites
1. If you are using Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, or Windows install the following additional prerequisites:
Microsoft FilterPack 2.0. At a command prompt, type the following:
c:\[Share Point Setup Folder]\PrerequisiteInstallerFiles\FilterPack\FilterPack.msi
Click Next Button Check Accept term and Click next After Patch completion, you would have a confirmation message
· Download and install Chart Controls (this is not required if you are going to install SharePoint Foundation 2010).
· Download and install SQL Server Analysis Services - ADOMD.Net (this is not required if you are going to install SharePoint Foundation 2010).
2. Configure your Sharepoint Server 2010
Open the Configuration wizard
Start menu
-- > All programs
--> Sharepoint 2010 product
--> Sharepoint 2010 product configuration Wizard
Open the Configuration wizard
Start menu
-- > All programs
--> Sharepoint 2010 product
--> Sharepoint 2010 product configuration Wizard
Configuration widows will start which will lead you toward configurations
As you click next it will give warning. No need to worry about this message in indicating that you are configuring for Developer work station only(Not for Production Environment). This warning will not interrupt your configuration. Click ok
Share point server 2010 require some services to be start, you don't need to worry about them, our configuration wizard will do it by itself
Click yes.
Upon click yes, configuration wizard will start which will peform about 10 configurations.
Now sit besides and take a cup of tea as you don't need to do anything more.
Hit Finish Button
Choose template and Click ok button
It will take upto 5 mint to load first time
Configure groups for your default site
Here's your default web upon completing your configuration
